HISTORY
Young Funeral Home
From 1945-1970, William J. Young, Sr. spear-headed operations/management. In 1949, he would join with the late Ransom M. Stiney, Jr. and open the Stiney-Young Funeral Home in Ridgeland, SC. After a short time, this company folded, and in 1962, the newly constructed Young Funeral Home would open its doors in Ridgeland, SC. In 1970, William J.Young was appointed by Governor McNair to serve on the South Carolina Board of Funeral Service.
In the summer of 1970, William suffered a massive stroke, Queen Esther Young, carried the torch from 1970-1990. In 1990, the business would come under the direction of Willa E. Young, the daughter of William and Queen Young.
Today, under the direction of Willa E. Young, Young Funeral Home is located at 109 Yemassee Hwy, Yemassee, South Carolina. Willa, is assisted by her daughter, Tarsha N. Pinckney, a 2007 graduate of Ogeechee Technical College, Mortuary Program, Statesboro, GA.
Young Funeral Home is committed to serving families with consideration of their individual wishes. Our services are delivered with professionalism and care in a spirit of excellence. Much has changed in the quiet Town of Yemassee, and, its surrounding areas, however, we are proud to say that our family (second and third generation) continues to serve generations of the same families. As we continue the legacy of our family, we strive to serve your family as if they were our own.
